Ramoji Rao, the founder of Ramoji Film City and a prominent media mogul, passed away on Saturday at the age of 87 at Star Hospital in Hyderabad, Telangana. His death occurred at 3:45 am during medical treatment.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his condolences on Rao's passing, remembering his "rich contribution" to the country's media world. In a tweet, PM Modi said, "The demise of Shri Ramoji Rao Garu is extremely saddening. He was a visionary who revolutionized the Indian media. His rich contribution has left an indelible mark on journalism and the film world. Through his remarkable efforts, he established new standards of innovation and excellence in the media and entertainment industry."

He added, "Ramoji Rao Garu was deeply sensitive towards India's development. I am fortunate to have had several opportunities to interact with him and benefit from his wisdom. My condolences to his family, friends, and countless admirers. Om Shanti."

Expressing grief over the loss, senior BJP leader G. Kishan Reddy wrote on Twitter, "I am saddened by the demise of Shri Ramoji Rao Garu. His remarkable contribution to Telugu media and journalism is commendable. My deepest condolences to the members of his family."

Ramoji Rao was an entrepreneur, film producer, and businessman. He led the Ramoji Group, which included several ventures, including Ramoji Film City, recognized as the world's largest film production facility. The group also owned the Eenadu newspaper, the ETV network of TV channels, and the film production company Usha Kiran Movies.

The renowned entrepreneur and media stalwart played a significant role in shaping the Indian entertainment and media landscape through his pioneering initiatives.
